WELLNESS COMPLEX GSTAAD

spa complex craft and concept
CREATORS: OLEXANDRA URTIUKOVA
YEAR: 2024
LOCATION: GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND
AREA: M2
STATUS: PROJECT

The main goal of this project was to create a sophisticated and functional common area within a large chalet complex in Gstaad, integrating a minimalist spa, gym, lounge, home cinema, smoking room, and wine corner. The challenge was to combine all these functions into a cohesive space while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic.

The interior is articulated through four distinct materials, each serving a precise functional role. The deep black ceiling enhances the geometry of the space and visually increases its height. Local Vals stone, valued for its durability, is used in areas exposed to humidity, temperature fluctuations, or heavy use. Warm walnut elements provide tactile comfort, and refined brass details highlight the sophistication of selected features.

Materials are applied deliberately and independently, with each dominating entire surfaces to reinforce its functional and aesthetic purpose. All elements are linear, geometric, and tend toward archetypal forms. This disciplined approach is echoed in the painting Malevich by Kyiv artist Victoria Vladimirska, which reinterprets the Black Square with clear geometric features, reinforcing the minimalist logic of the interior.
